$6.23 Million Raised for Life-saving Youth Mental Health Programs
69 cyclists came together on the weekend of September 10th for the Tour de Bleu, an annual cycling fundraiser raising money for the William Osler Health System’s Adolescent Intensive Day program. This year, the event achieved a new milestone, raising a record-breaking $6.23 million that will go directly towards enhancing specialized mental health care for young people in the community.
The 2024 Tour de Bleu represents the fundraiser’s 19th year - raising more than $45 million for a variety of world-class organizations, including SickKids Hospital, Women’s College Hospital, and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. It is organized by the Peter Gilgan Foundation, which provides grants to many diverse causes from education to sustainability and maternal health. The Tour de Bleu continues to run strong and make a significant impact in our community and around the world.
For the second year in a row, Tour de Bleu has set funding records in support of William Osler’s youth mental health program, bringing the two-year total to $11.9 million. As one of Ontario’s largest mental health and addictions programs, Osler experiences the largest number of emergency department mental health visits in the GTA. The severity of cases and wait times have only intensified since the pandemic. These funds will play a crucial role in addressing these growing challenges and in providing much-needed care to youth in the GTA.
The Humberview Group is proud to be part of such an important event and cause. We recognize the importance of supporting and giving back to our community whenever we can, especially when it comes to something as critical as youth mental health. With suicide being a leading cause of death among young people in our region, it has become more important than ever to ensure timely and easy access to mental health services. The funds raised have already made a significant difference, providing life-changing and life-saving care for youth in need.
